Combined Heat and Power Boiler

When it comes to alternatives for an ageing boiler, most people automatically think of condensing boilers. One of the newer options
is a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) boiler
which allows you to generate electricity as well as keeping your house warm and your water hot.

It's a tried and tested technology, previously only implemented on a large scale, but now available for domestic use.

A CHP boiler is usually powered by gas, and behaves like a conventional unit. As it uses pretty much the same amount of gas as a conventional boiler, the result is that you effectively get some of your power for free.

Designed to be installed in place of existing gas boilers, CHP units avoid the need for changes to external vents or flues.

A typical home system would be rated at around 1kW, which can be a useful supplement to reduce your electricity bills - especially with the newly announced "Feed-in tariffs" that effectively pay you for any electricity you generate.

Please note, we can only fit the BAXI Ecogen
in Social Housing.
