Frequently asked questions

Can you use one Solar panel for both water and electricity generation? No. The panels are of a completely different construction. One heats a liquid, the other generates an electrical charge.

How can I use the electricity I generate?
It can be used to power anything in your house that uses electricity. The current produced by the PV cells is converted into standard AC current.

What can I actually do with a kilowatt hour of electricity? An average person uses 600-800 kWh of energy every month. One kWh equates to: 1200 electric shaves or drying your hair 15 times, powering a small fridge for 24 hours or 4 evenings of light with 60W bulbs.

Where's the best place to fit solar panels?
On any south-facing roof or side of a building, where sunlight is not obscured by surrounding trees or buildings.

How much electricity could I generate per year? Dependant on the number of panels, around 10% of a households requirements.

Can I have underfloor heating installed in
my existing home?
Yes, depending on insulation levels and floor height build-up. If the building is well insulated with double-glazing and is close to current building regulation standards then underfloor heating will perform well.
